RIP
Our old friend and terrific drummer, Kirk "KT" Tuttle, died this morning (1/27/11) at Seattle's Swedish Hospital from complications associated with liver disease. He was 68 years-old. He will be sorely missed by the Seattle blues music community. Photo created by Phil Chesnut.

KT - unassuming, stubborn, incorrigible - and so talented. I know you loved him, Mike, and that you and John Marshall and Penny and others cared for him so kindly during and after JJ's illness. It is almost impossible to imagine Seattle blues without him. WHEN will you - or an amalgam of us (Patrick???) write the history of Seattle blues so sorely deserved? KT was a treasure trove of music lore and talent - hardly anyone knew about his serious jazz beginnings. KT was so kind and accepting and loving towards me, no matter how deranged I was. SO glad he went to Spain. So glad I heard him in so many bands. So touched by his sweetness. So sorry I won't be there to be with you all on the 27th. Thank you for the music and the love, KT.
and much as I love Phil's photography, I hope to see some of the funny, ebullient KT here soon.
Mike, Can you post that pic of Jimi Jean and KT in the 80's at the Owl. That pic said it all about those two..........
As an ex Seattlite, this blog is one of my favorites. While I didn't know KT, I knew who he was. I understand his passing has had profound effect on many in the Seattle blues community.
I hope one day Mike will continue contributing to this site. I miss keeping up with the Seattle Blues scene.

I recruted KT to join One Hand Clapping back in the 70's. I had the pleasure of playing with KT for many years. He was a good friend always kind and warm and laughing. Was looking for him on facebook and found this. A true loss to the Seattle music community. Love to Penny.
